That's why on this page we're offering you an outlined service schedule for your Grand Cherokee. Continue reading below to learn how to best care for your Grand Cherokee!

8,000 Miles

The first service for your Grand Cherokee should take place around the 8,000-mile or six-month mark. At this service, your Grand Cherokee will require an oil and oil filter change along with a few other things. In addition to the oil change, you should have the Dick Scott Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram service team perform a tire rotation to help them wear evenly and prevent premature wear. Moving forward, Grand Cherokee owners should have the oil changed, and the tires rotated every 8,000 miles. You should also have our service technicians check essential components like the exhaust system, CV joints, and steering and suspension system to ensure no signs of premature wear and tear are present. Most often, these checks are just a precaution and very rarely require repairs.

16,000 Miles

After another 8,000 miles, it's time for another oil change and tire rotation. Plus, if you use your Grand Cherokee for off-roading or frequently drive on dirt roads, you should have the technician check your air filters. The engine air filter is essential to ensuring that your engine gets clean air free of debris, dirt, and other contaminants. If this filter becomes clogged, it can decrease your fuel efficiency by causing your engine to work harder without proper airflow. The other air filter to have checked is the cabin air filter, which similarly cleans the air coming through your vents. Additionally, if the exhaust system has not yet been checked, it will be checked at the 16,000-mile service interval.

32,000 Miles

After two more oil changes, around the 32,000-mile odometer reading, you'll want to replace the engine air filter if it has not been replaced yet. Additionally, the spark plugs should be inspected for carbon contamination. If this is found, the spark plugs should be replaced to prevent a cylinder misfire. Also, if your Grand Cherokee is equipped with disc brakes, you should have one of the Dick Scott Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram service technicians inspect them to ensure that the pads and rotors are in good condition. This inspection should be performed every two years to ensure your safety.

64,000 Miles

At 64,000 miles, the aforementioned services from 32,000 miles should be performed again, along with a few new ones, to ensure your vehicle's health as it ages. For example, if your spark plugs have not been replaced yet, they should be at or before the 64,000-mile service. This service is also when you should have our technicians inspect the fluid inside your Grand Cherokee's gearboxes, as they can become contaminated with metal shavings as the fluid breaks down. You should also have your Grand Cherokee's transmission fluid changed at this service. This is especially important if you use your Grand Cherokee for towing. Lastly, under normal driving conditions, 64,000 miles is around the time when your brake pads and rotors may require replacing. However, they may not be recommended if you do mostly highway driving. Conversely, if you spend most of your time driving in stop-and-go traffic, they may have already been replaced.

96,000 Miles

As you approach the 100,000-mile mark, you've likely become an expert at giving it the care it needs. However, you can take a few more measures to ensure your Grand Cherokee's smooth operation well beyond 100,000 miles. At this point, you should have your entire braking system checked, including the fluid, lines, calipers, pads, and rotors. Any of these components may need replacing at the 96,000-mile mark, so it's important to have the technician take a thorough look. This service is also a good time to have your Grand Cherokee's cooling system checked to avoid engine overheating.
