Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys Powertrain
The Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid system includes a 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine with a twin-scroll low-inertia turbocharger, providing exciting performance and responsiveness. Mounted to the front of the engine, in place of the traditional alternator, is an electric motor providing seamless fuel-saving engine stop-start operation. Inside the transmission is a much larger electric motor, providing instantaneous torque distribution and key to the Wrangler 4xe's pure electric operation. The 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack is tightly sealed and placed underneath the rear seat, protecting it from the elements. This setup gives the Wrangler 4xe 470 lb-ft of immediate torque, 375 horsepower, and 49 miles per gallon gas equivalent. The instant torque will give off-road enthusiasts a greater sense of control and stability on the trails. Additionally, the Willys trim comes standard with a Trac-Lock limited-slip rear differential, providing optimal traction on road surfaces and conditions like loose gravel, snow, and ice.
Design Features of the Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe
The Wrangler Willys 4xe design is what makes it capture the historic design of the Willys MB. Standard exterior equipment for the Willys 4xe includes LED headlamps and fog lamps, 17-inch black painted alloy wheels, mud-terrain tires, rock rails, a black grille, and exclusive Willys and 'Electric 4-Wheel Drive' decals trimmed with the 4xe's signature Electric Blue. This same Electric Blue trim is used for the front and rear tow hooks, Trail Rated badge, and Jeep badge. Additionally, the Willys 4xe features a 1-inch factory lift, giving drivers 10.1 inches of ground clearance.
