With the creation of the Wrangler 4xe, Jeep set out to use electric power to create the most efficient Wrangler ever without sacrificing its legendary off-road capability. And with the Wrangler 4xe's PHEV powertrain, that is exactly what they did! Underneath the hood, you'll find a two-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor mounted to it in place of the traditional alternator. A second electric motor is found within the eight-speed automatic transmission, where the torque converter would normally be. This hybrid setup delivers 375 horsepower, best-in-class 470 lb-ft of torque, and virtually no range anxiety. The Wrangler 4xe all but eliminates range anxiety by using the turbocharged engine when the battery is depleted, or the driver chooses to save electric power using the E-Save drive mode button. Both electric motors are powered by a 400-volt battery pack recharged by a Level 1 or Level 2 EV charger. All Wrangler 4xe models come standard with Selec-Trac 4x4 for excellent performance on dry, smooth roads, snow, rain, mud, rocks, and just about any terrain you can imagine! Meanwhile, the Rubicon 4xe delivers unrivaled capability on steep, rugged off-road trails with the Rock-Trac 4x4 system.

The Rubicon trim level was first introduced to the Wrangler lineup in 2003, taking the already impressive off-road capability of the Wrangler to a much higher level. While technology and equipment have advanced over the years, that unmatched level of capability is still the purpose of the Wrangler Rubicon and Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. As mentioned above, the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe comes with Rock-Trac part-time 4x4, which is meticulously designed to tackle rugged terrain with a 4:1 gear ratio to deliver unrivaled low-speed crawling control, perfect for steep rock garden hills. In addition to the Rock-Trac 4x4 system, the Rubicon 4xe also adds a vast array of specialized off-roading equipment. This includes cab rock rails, additional skid plate protection, locking front and rear differentials, FOX shock absorbers, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires, and electronic sway bar disconnect. This feature allows the driver to unlink the front sway bar to create greater wheel articulation by allowing the front wheels to rise and drop further, keeping the wheels connected to the trail beneath you. Meanwhile, the Rubicon X 4xe is an all-new trim for 2024, enhancing the Rubicon's capabilities even further with upgraded steel bumpers, Rock-Trac full-time 4x4, a winch capable front bumper, knobby 35-inch BFGoodrich T/A KO2 all-terrain tires, a forward-facing off-road trail camera, and many more enhancements.
